La Jolla Shores is one mile of sandy beach next to La Jolla Shores Park and off of La Jolla Shores Dr. This beach is famous for its beauty and known to have the most gente summertime waves of all the San Diego beaches. It is adjacent to the San Diego La Jolla Underwater Park Ecological Reserve and at the north end is the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and Scripps Pier. Surf spots are designated by yellow checkered flags. Local amenities include: lifeguards, showers, restrooms, and parking lot (arrive early in the summertime).

South end is great for beginners and the waves get bigger as you go further north. Be careful of stingrays, as they can be plentiful at times. Lots of tourists and locals. Not too territorial, but there are occasionally some people to stay away from.
