The snorkeling at Maroma reef was really great. The reef depth was anywhere from 2 feet below the surface to 15 feet. I got there by Jet-ski from the Grand Maya hotel's activity service run by Lee Corp Aquatics. I rode on the back while the tour guide drove the Jet-ski. There was another two people on a 2nd jet -ski that also went. Initially I paid to go on a boat with 5 more people but they cancelled at the last minute, so I went on the boat. The published price was 65 USD but I got a 5 USD discount.
Once there I saw a large variety of sea life, saw two large Lobsters, a file fish and schools of tangs and parrot fish. There was also a sunken boat engine which the coral had taken over and got some great photos of coral up close.
The beach was really pristine, with few people.
