We have been to the Barcelo Maya hotel three times, and each time the snorkeling was really great. This is a great place for the kids to snorkel as well. The water is calm and warm.

The hotel is next to the Great Maya Reef which extends all the way down the Yucatan Maya riviera.

We saw great schools of tang and jack fish along with a wide variety of smaller reef fish. The most awesome part were the green sea turtles. We had never seen one before, and to sea one up close was really great. If you stay at this hotel do not waste money on a snorkeling excursion. There is great snorkeling off the beach.
